The Conejo Valley is a very desirable location for families to live in Southern California, with quiet bedroom communities, wonderful schools, and wide open park land for residents to enjoy.It’s very easily accessible to the greater Los Angeles area by way of the 101 Freeway (Ventura Fwy), with a short commute to such job centers as Van Nuys, Burbank, Glendale, and Pasadena.

Schools are known to be excellent in Conejo Valley, with school districts like Oak Park getting national attention for test scores and student performance.
The Conejo Valley is bounded by Simi Valley in the north, with Calabasas and Camarillo in the east and west respectively, and the Santa Monica Mountains to the south. As you drive north (west) on the 101 Freeway from Calabasas, you pass Oak Park and other bedroom communities in the valley.
Some of the more popular places to live in Conejo Valley include Agoura Hills, Newbury Park, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Casa Conejo, and North Ranch Country Club. Some websites allow you to search for Conejo Valley homes by these subdivision names.
Upscale Neighborhoods in Newbury Park
Newbury Park is an upscale community on the west side of the Conejo Valley. It is on the high end of the economic scale, with its median home values lofty enough to get it ranked as the most affluent community in all of Ventura County.
That also places it in the category of one of the country’s most affluent neighborhoods, with median home prices north of 0,000, even after the 2005 downturn. Home prices in the last decade increased two and a half times on average in Newbury Park, with some exclusive Newbury Park homes reaching prices over $2.8 million.
The neighborhood is actually a part of Thousand Oaks, and is governed for the most part by that city’s government. Casa Conejo is the exception, however – it was the first community built in the masterplanned development, and remains an unicorporated portion of Newbury Park. Casa Conejo, which is an unincorporated section of Newbury Park, is not a part of Thousand Oaks.
Newbury Park’s schools are a part of the Conejo Valley USD, and are known for their high academic standard for student performance. Other local features are the areas wide open spaces, park land, and world-renowned mountain biking and hiking trails. Home owners in Newbury Park have placed a high value on preserving the plentiful natural environment in the Conejo Valley, and this has led to a high quality of life for residents. As a result, Newbury Park homes are generally considered a great investment in addition to being a great place to raise a family.
While older neighborhoods have not been developed for decades, there is a small supply of new homes in Newbury Park. Dos Vientos is a newer residential development that has just recently completed the final portion of its construction phases. The last residential construction project in Newbury Park is called Rancho Conejo Village, and is being built by S & S Homes.
