Living in Scarsdale, New York is living in an high end rural area of New York. The people who live here are mostly upclass professionals who commute to their businesses in Manhattan. Scarsdale real esate is high in cost and very sought after.
Ranching and farming was the predominant occupation of the nearly 300 population.Potatoes and other vegetables were grown on the ranches in the area.The people coming here were hindered by the lack of employment opportunities in the 1790s. In and around 1891 or 1892, a large parcel of land was acquired by a new home builder. They built about 1000 new homes here. After the construction of the 1000 or so new home, all built in rows, the area became quite popular in Westchester County In 1915 it was incorporated as a village.
Since then, many home building booms have taken place along with commercial and commerce growth that has seen the former rural area turn into a hub of business and residential growth and people both living and working here. Scarsdale offer both living and working options today, not like that of the old days.
This is a somewhat white collar community with a higher than average education rate as well as a very much higher than normal income average. The village is also known for its artists and their contribution to the village’s character. Another interesting feature is that many people who live here also are working from their homes involving computer type work. Scarsdale has a very educated and diverse make up.

With an enviable combination of good schools, low crime, college-educated neighbors who tend to support education because of their own experiences, and a high rate of home ownership in predominantly single-family properties, Scarsdale really has some of the features that families look for when choosing a good community to raise children.
